The Drum in Cannes

Thursday 20 June, 10:00-11:00

Cannes, France

Are algorithms sexist?

Algorithms underpin everything from what we see on the internet to whether we're considered by a recruiter for a job and what kind of healthcare we get - but are they inherently bias?

As the tech world slowly tries to improve its diversity problem (women are _still_ in the minority of senior software developers), this panel will discuss how we redefine and achieve algorithmic fairness across gender, racial, and other forms of bias.

Panellists include:

  • Jennifer Weedn, vice president, business development for marketing solutions and sales solutions, LinkedIn
  • Emil Asmussen, creative director, VIRTUE, The Creative Agency by VICE
  • Eric Heller, former Amazon exec, and head of WPP’s Amazon Center of Excellence, WPP
  • Jocelyn Lee, head of AI advertising practice, Heat
  • Holly Sutton, enterprise sales director, LoopMe
  • Jen Faull, brands editor, The Drum (moderator)
